The KING Sings “I said give me two pairs, (cause) I need two pairs
So I can get to stomping in my air force ones (Big boys) stomping in my air force ones” – Nelly Voice
Errr Not at that Price??
So the King is back in the building again but he ain’t too happy at all. This week one of the Sneaker Gods Julian aka @BadJuju1 posted a picture on instagram of the current Nike.com price of a pair of all white AF1’s and to my amazement the price was £80… Yes you read that correctly £80!!!! So I asked was this a @Nikeid or something? And Julian was like that is the actually price! And he also mentioned it’s crazy how it was a day or two just after the recent collaboration with Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci where he added a few colours to the white and black Air Force One Collection. So Nike thought ok lets make an addition of £17 to the the last recorded price of £67 (which is still the retail price in some shops) and before that it was £55 and before that it was £49.99… So why the increase huh?
Which brings me on to my next question… Is the recent influx of collaborations increasing the prices of a normal model of trainer even after the collaboration is over… Ok let me re- phrase this… Are the collaborations pushing up the prices as a whole across the entire trainer game period???
This is a sad fact that could be true, look at what’s happening now as all the trainer companies are fighting with each other to do a collaboration with whoever they feel is an influencer? But are they going too far? Ok don’t get me wrong I do get why they would do a collaboration it is a special thing and I don’t want anyone to think I am against that… But what the King is against is the whole pricing craziness… come oooon!!
And some of the collaborations are errr how do I say it errr.. whats the best way for me to say it… SHIT!!! Some of these designers are just throwing bright colour palettes at trainers and putting their name on it and doubling the price to be honest.
What are your thoughts on this?…Do you think the recent influx has made us all pay higher prices? Saying that the price of a Jordan has only increased about £35 in the last 20 years that’s like £1.75 per year increase and the price of AF1s has gone up by £30 in 30 years..
So is this ok should we be expecting it?? Is it acceptable?
Let the King know your thoughts comment below and let me know what you think??
Oh did I mentioned that the AF1’s for £80 was the Lows?? Ummmm?
Makes you think right?
Until the next time.
